New Corporate Opportunity Launched
JDRF has long been the beneficiary of incredible corporate partnerships that support our goal of a world free from diabetes. Our partners have helped us to fund the most promising research, while also raising awareness of the realities of this disease.
In 2021; JDRF introduced the Centennial Club, for companies who commit to a philanthropic gift of $100,000 or more towards accelerating research.
Tied in with the $100M Campaign to Accelerate, this new opportunity offers the chance for corporations to direct their support to one of the six fundraising priorities.
The name Centennial Club was chosen to commemorate the important centenary milestone of the discovery of the insulin hormone, in 1921. While a life-changing discovery that has made a difference in the lives of millions of people living with diabetes, the Centennial Club marks JDRF’s commitment to moving beyond insulin.
The Centennial Club provides opportunities for corporations to invest in the fundraising priority that most fits their organization’s philanthropic philosophy, while helping to positively impact the lives of Canadians with T1D, along with millions of others around the world.
BD Diabetes Care, (now known as embecta) was one of the first companies to join the Centennial Club.
BD has been a stalwart partner and supporter of JDRF in Canada for more than 20 years, with a shared focus of improving lives of Canadians living with type 1 diabetes. BD has supported Rides, Walks and Galas both as a sponsor and as an educational partner.
In 2021, they helped to inaugurate the Centennial Club with transformational support of the $100M Campaign to Accelerate with a focus on the mental health pillar.
“For us at embecta, formally BD Diabetes Care, we have seen the impact diabetes has on people’s mental health firsthand. We know managing a chronic illness is a relentless 24/7 task and we believe there is much more that can be done to focus on and support the mental health of all people living with diabetes so that they can live their best lives,” says Jen Spearen, General Manager, embecta Canada.
