Canada Disability Benefit and T1D

Starting in June 2025, residents between 18 and 64 years old can qualify for the new Canada Disability Benefit if they have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) and meet the benefit’s other eligibility requirements.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the benefit, individuals need to be aged 18 to 64 and have been approved for the DTC. They also need to have filed their income tax return, as does their spouse or common-law partner if they have one.

When will it be available?

The first month of eligibility for the benefit will be June 2025, and it is expected that payments will begin in July 2025. The Government will provide details on the application process in the coming months, including information on when, where, and how to apply.
