Community activities
Community and belonging is a key tenet of Breakthrough T1D’s commitment to improving the lives of people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) today, while we work towards cures. We partner with dedicated volunteer committees to organize local community activities for both adults and families affected by T1D. Youth Cooking Class. Come join the fun and connect with the type 1 diabetes (T1D) community in Calgary on Saturday, November 15th. This is a great chance to make new friends and enjoy a hands-on culinary experience. This event is hosted by Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) and the dedicated volunteers of C-PaK-Connecting Parents and Kids affected by Type 1 Diabetes.

You’re invited to a fun and informative day at the Vernon T1D Education Fair! Discover interactive booths on topics including traveling with T1D, carb counting, insulin adjustments, exercise, sick day management, and more! A pharmacist and an accountant will be available to answer your questions.
Kids can enjoy a zone featuring a face painter, crafts, and other fun activities. This is a community event organized by a group of dedicated Breakthrough T1D volunteers, the Okanagan T1D Hub.

Bowling with Breakthrough T1D

Join us for a fun-filled morning of bowling at Laurentian Lanes! Lace up your bowling shoes and get ready to strike some pins while meeting new people who understand what living with type 1 diabetes means . Whether you’re a bowling pro or just looking to have a good time, this event is perfect for everyone and all ages. Come out, meet new friends, bowl with your friends and family!
Each lane can accommodate 6 people. We will organize the lanes upon arrival to make fair teams. Each ticket is for 2 games of bowling and bowling shoe rental per person. There is a restaurant on-site if you would like to eat or drink.
Duck pin bowling and ten-pin bowling available.
