Advocacy
Breakthrough T1D brings together people affected by type 1 diabetes who want their voices heard. Breakthrough T1D advocates with the T1D community to Members of Parliament (MP) as well as provincial and municipal officials. These relationships strengthen our community, provide support and deliver our message – the need to accelerate research and improve access through funding from our federal and provincial governments.
Access For All
Access For All aims to make type 1 diabetes (T1D) technology affordable and accessible for everyone living with this disease. This campaign aims to support our T1D community in their efforts to increase public and private coverage for insulin pumps and advanced glucose monitors (CGM and Flash GM). Together, we can reduce the out-of-pocket costs for these technologies and improve access for Canadians with T1D.
Partnership to Defeat Diabetes
The Breakthrough T1D-CIHR Partnership to Defeat Diabetes is a landmark collaboration between the Government of Canada, through CIHR, who invested $15M and Breakthrough T1D Canada who matched that investment with an additional $15M to support transformative T1D research.
Disability tax credit
The disability tax credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit that helps persons with disabilities or their supporting persons reduce the amount of income tax they may have to pay.
Framework for Diabetes in Canada
Breakthrough T1D Canada is supporting a national strategy to improve access to diabetes prevention and treatment to ensure better health outcomes for Canadians.
T1D on the Hill
People affected by T1D will come together in Ottawa along with Breakthrough T1D staff and volunteers to urge parliamentarians to stand with us as we ramp up our efforts to find cures for T1D and make them available to everyone who would benefit from them.
